Goddamn, I love LOST.  Spoilers from last night's episode after the jump...

Act One of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is now freely available... for a limited time, as I understand it.  I just finished watching it (twice), and it is simply fantastic.   Watch it immediately, or I'm afraid we can't be friends.

Act Two drops on Thursday (7/17), and Act Three on Saturday (7/19).  After that, it goes offline and will eventually come out on DVD.  At least, I think that's how it works.  Doesn't matter anyway... since you are already over there watching it... aren't you?

So, season 4 is done.  Probably the most straightforward season finale of the show, and yet still as shocking and question-filled as ever.  I am eager for season five, but not desperate, and that is kinda nice.  Spoiler-filled reactions after the break...

I love me some BSG.  I know that there are a lot of geeks out there that have issues with the changes made between the modern series and the original... but having never seen the original, all I see is the best sci-fi show on television (although it is neck-and-neck with Lost, for me).

That said, season three was a bit of a mixed bag.  Maybe it was inevitable for a season that started with such a phenomenal kick in the pants, but the middle of the season seemed to drag and meander... only to come back at the end and completely nuke all expectations.  I'll admit with little shame that last night's finale (and subsequent "Returning in 2008" announcment) set my mind a-buzzing and made it very difficult to get to sleep.

I think Dwight Schrute said it best, because if you aren't watching Battlestar Galactica, "then you're an idiot."

With a friend's request to start investigating various options for building a homebrew DVR/Media Center, I've been finding all sorts of interesting things on the interwubs... to the extent where I'm contemplating some rather large paradigm shifts, entertainment-wise.  I mean... if I could build a box that will let me watch any type of video file over the house network, and find a site with up-to-date and reliable torrents of all of our favorite shows... what do I need cable for, right?  I do feel a little retarded with the amount of money I turn over to Cox each month.

I don't really have the financial resources to go too crazy on a project like this... especially considering that half the idea is to SAVE money in the long run.  Problem is, I think I need to at least provide a proof-of-concept to the wifey...  but how much digital cable do we watch, anyway... if we could get HD shows off the internets reliably.  HD network channels are free over the airwaves as it is, if I picked up an antenna.

I feel as if my natural inclination for geekery is being wasted when it could be providing me sweet functionality and mad savings.
